At the time you need to make a decision which MBA program to choose it is really important to get the information about business school from someone who knows everything from inside. Now you have an opportunity to get unique information about TiasNimbas business school from its director of corporate sales and recruitment Jan Henk van der Werff.

MBA Strategy :How would you describe the ‘perfect’ Full-Time MBA candidate for TiasNimbas Business School?

Jan Henk: The TiasNimbas MBA candidate is a confident, focused and strong individual!  They know where they want to go in life and in their careers and enjoy interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

We offer a co-operative learning environment where individuals can thrive and not only grow as potential managers and leaders but also as individuals.  Our perfect candidate is able to transcend all national barriers, and with an open mind, challenge old theories and concepts.  They can see beyond competition and strive to learn to work more effectively with others.

They are interested in a school with sound international accreditations but they also value academic excellence which goes beyond the rankings.

Our students want to leave us knowing they have prepared themselves with the knowledge and business skills to enable them to succeed in today’s competitive business environment.  That is the return on investment we can offer them.

MBA Strategy : How many applications did TiasNimbas receive for the 2008-2009 September intake? Did the economic situation have an impact on applications this year?

Jan Henk: In order to give the best personal and professional attention to our students we at TiasNimbas firmly believe that the maximum class size should be no more than 40 students.  To make a proper selection and guarantee a culturally diverse student body we need to receive 85-100 applications per year.

This year we have seen a rise in the number of applications for a Full- Time MBA. In an economic downturn it is not uncommon that professionals leave their careers for a year to build additional educational creditability and enhance their level of competence by participating in a Full-time MBA programme.

MBA Strategy :  In the light of the current economic situation, what would be the TiasNimbas approach, in terms of career services, for MBA students who have graduated?

Jan Henk: As the world recession takes hold, we believe that MBA graduates will be the ones who benefits when the upturn comes. We have geared our careers services to helping prepare our students to go out and meet the challenge of finding fulfilling careers in a competitive market place.

TiasNimbas has a partnership with “The Hay Group” a global management consulting firm that works with our students to as personally effective as possible, target the correct sectors and make sure that they can make the best possible impression with potential employers, so that they can realise their full potential.

In addition, the diversity of our student cohort makes for a stimulating environment (21 different nationalities in our Full-Time programme).

We also help prepare our students to work in an increasingly intercultural business environment through providing them with inspirational international faculty and inspiring peers.

The confidence and skills, which participating in a Full-Time MBA at TiasNimbas will give, is in our experience, the vital impulse to their future career.

MBA Strategy : Has your business school changed attitude to education because of the financial crisis?

Jan Henk: The finance-related modules of our MBA programme were built upon our belief that the shareholders are not the only stakeholders in a successful international business environment.

Leadership, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility are the three pillars that have been the backbone of our Full-Time MBA curriculum for years now. The Associate Dean of the TiasNimbas MBA programmes, Prof. Dr. Nigel Roome, is a leading authority on Corporate Social Responsibility.  In addition, we use extra-curricular activities to keep our students fully updated about the latest trends and developments in global business.

More about the one year Full-Time MBA at TiasNimbas Business School in the Netherlands?

Our next Full-Time MBA programme starts in September 2010. At TiasNimbas we believe it is never too early to prepare for the right business school that fits your educational needs. Our goal in the admissions process is to indentify and enroll individuals with strong leadership potential. Who also will enhance the diversity in their classroom and can contribute in a positive way to their peer-group. We seek candidates who have solid professional experience and demonstrate strong ethics and social responsibility. With this in mind, you will go through a rigorous telephone interview.
