Эссе - это краткая письменная творческая работа студента на определенную тему. Основная цель написания эссе - раскрыть предложенную тему путем приведения различных аргументов (тезисов). Они должны подкрепляться доказательствами и иллюстрироваться всевозможными примерами.Для поступления в бизнес-школу необходимо написать несколько эссе, от 3 до 7 объемом от 500 до 2000 слов (рассматривается как часть пакета документов). Также задание написать эссе есть в таких тестах как GMAT и TOEFL.
Основными целями эссе в тестах TOEFL и GMAT являются определение Вашего уровня знания английского языка, умения свободно оперировать иностранной лексикой, выявление принципов Вашего логического мышления. Для каждого из тестов необходимо написать по 2 эссе, на каждое из которых дается по 30 минут.
Написание эссе для бизнес-школ (МВА эссе) обычно занимает гараздо больше времени (не день и не два!) и является самым творческим заданием при поступлении в бизнес-школу. С его помощью абитуриенты демонстрируют не только умение грамотно излагать свои мысли на бумаге, но и расскрывают себя как личность. Письменная работа должна убедить приемную комиссию в том, что ее автор яркий, незаурядный человек.
Так как эссе играют важную роль при поступлении, основной задачей при их написании является информация, примеры, аргументы, которые могли бы выгодно отличить Вас от других кандидатов. Именно поэтому в МВА эссе преимущество отдается не цифрам и голым фактам, а информации о жизненном пути, интересным, необычным ярким ситуациям и т.д.
Возможными темами, которые каждый год предлагают бизнес-школы для эссе, являются следующие:
